by Elrik Merlin on Wednesday, 1 August, 2012

Today at 11am and 7pm Pacific Time (19:00 and 03:00 UK time), please join us for the latest in our continuing series of chilling landmark radio dramas by some of literature’s most famous authors.

The Black Mass was produced by Erik Bauersfeld and John Whiting at KPFA in Berkeley, California between 1963 and 1970, and is presented by kind permission of Erik Bauersfeld and Bay Area Radio Drama.

Today’s tale is The Outsider by H P Lovecraft

by H.P. Lovecraft
Adapted and Performed by: Erik Bauersfeld
Technical Production: John Whiting

He grew up in an underground castle among the remains of his mother’s half eaten bones. Later he finds a way to climb up to the surface of the world and face an image of himself… a monstrous horror that had come before its time. Lovecraft adds that the story has a “cynicism tempered with immeasurable pity for man’s eternal tragedy of aspirations beyond the possibility of fulfillment.”

In conjunction with the broadcast, for listeners who are resident of Second Life, there will be an in‐world listening party for the 7pm Pacific performance, at the Bucket of Blood Public House in New Babbage:

Next week at the same time: The Rats In The Walls by H P Lovecraft.
