Steampunk: Sounds of Steam, Cinco de Mayo — Steampunk in South and Central America

in Radio Riel Steampunk, Weekly Programme

by Gabrielle Riel on Monday, 6 May, 2013

Tune in this evening on Radio Riel Steampunk from 7:00pm to 10:00pm North American Pacific time for Sounds of Steam, the weekly, Steampunk themed, Internet radio show, hosted by Travis I. Sivart and Chris Hall.

On this episode we will be discussing the origins of Cinco de Mayo, as well as discussing how it has moved forward in the modern era. We will explore Steampunk in Central and South America, with interviews from leaders of the community in Argentina, Brazil (Rio de Janeiro) and Chile, as well as playing as much Latin American Steampunk music we can get our grubby little paws on!

We have our usual weekly segments of Drink‐Du‐Jour, This Week In History, Opening and Closing Toasts, Upcoming Events, and Steampunk Music Hour. We discuss the influence of Steampunk in the world of movies, literature, music, gaming, and every other corner of culture we can find. We interview convention goers and hosts, artists, bands, writers, inventors, time travelers and craftsmen. We explore the hobbies, sub genres, geographic influences and fringe cultures that help shape Steampunk every day. All of this blended with wit, sarcasm and a pub‐like atmosphere.
