Happy Hogmanay!

Join us today as we cel­e­brate Hog­manay, and the birth of the New Year with a pro­gramme of music from Scot­land, tra­di­tion­al and mod­ern. Yes, there are lots of pipes today (and a lot more).

The Bagpipe Challenge — Sunday March 18 1pm

On Sun­day at 1pm Pacif­ic Time (20:00 GMT) three pre­sen­ters — Elrik Mer­lin, Ktahdn Vesu­vi­no and Gabrielle Riel — bring you the sound of the bag­pipes from around the world on Radio Riel’s Main Stream.

The North Road

Today Elrik Mer­lin cel­e­brates his move to Scot­land with a pro­gramme fea­tur­ing pri­mar­i­ly tra­di­tion­al Scot­tish music, the first from his new stu­dio on the north-east coast.

The pro­gramme includes plen­ty of music for tra­di­tion­al Scot­tish dance bands with the stan­dard line­up of accor­dions, fid­dle, drums and often piano, along­side folk music and, of course, the pipes.
