Around the World – in story and song

Join Radio Riel and the Seanchai Library at 1pm Pacific Time/20:00 GMT on Sunday March 24th as we take you on a musical and spoken‐word trip around the world: three live readers presenting folk tales from across the globe, followed by three presenters playing their — very different — musical impressions of a global journey.

The event marks the 11th anniversary of the founding of the Seanchai Library in Second Life. The first story was presented on March 20, 2008, when the Library was dedicated as The West of Ireland Library and Cultural Center in its original home in Second Life. Today Seanchai Library (pronounced “Shawn‐a‐kee” — a traditional Irish storyteller/historian) continues to be among the most consistently active venues in Second Life for the presentation of stories and literature. Seanchai is based on the rich Celtic legacy of the Bard and the Seanchai, and its “collection” is built one reading, one story sharing at a time —  Library Out Loud.

For eleven years, Seanchai Library has presented 5–8 hours a week of live programming; presenting  thousands of storytelling events and raising thousands of dollars for numerous charities. Seanchai continues to bring stories to life in Second Life, and other virtual worlds. So in celebration of eleven years of tales, adventures, and literary journeys, the Library is joining with Radio Riel to take this trip around the world in story and song.

The programme schedule is as follows — all times are PDT and approximate:

1pm Live readings with Faerie Maven‐Pralou, David Abbot and Caledonia Skytower
2pm Elrik Merlin
3pm Ktahdn Vesuvino
4pm Gabrielle Riel

If you are a Second Life resident, join us at Ceiliuradh Glen, Holly Kai Estates half an hour earlier, and catch some additional live readings in SL voice.
