Listening via TuneIn in the UK has been disabled

Following the results of a UK court case, the TuneIn curated internet radio catalogue now no longer allows access to UK listeners via their apps or via other services (such as Sonos) that use their curated directory, to radio stations whose music is licensed outside the UK.

Radio Riel is in fact also licensed in the UK via PRS (Limited Online Music Licence) and PPL (Small Webcaster Licence) and we are in the process of contacting TuneIn with our licensing information so access can be hopefully be resumed (this may take a while, based on the experience of our friends at Radio Caroline). Until then, we recommend that UK listeners to Radio Riel do so using the links on the web site, https://radioriel.org, and in the case of internet listening devices such as Sonos, Squeezebox, etc add the URL(s) specifically as Favorites.

It must be said that over the past year or so, TuneIn has been becoming less and less useful, with insertions into streams and added advertising, as well as making stations hard to find on the web site. For web-based listening, we would suggest Online Radio Box as an alternative — with a complete playlist for the past seven days. However we don’t have a solution for you yet as far as net player devices are concerned other than manually adding the URL.

Our apologies for any inconvenience.
