Victoria Bush Fire Appeal

in Daily Programme

by Elrik Merlin on Monday, 9 February, 2009

If you have caught the news over the last few days, you’ll know that there have been terrible bush fires raging in Victoria, Australia, that have left vast areas devastated. Almost 200 people are known to have lost their lives – the toll will doubtless rise as more bodies are discovered – and many homes have been destroyed. And it’s not over yet. We also know that at least one Caledon resident has lost her RL farm in the fires.

If Radio Riel listeners and their friends would like to make a donation to support the emergency work in Victoria, here is a link to the official web site for donations. This appeal is a joint effort between the Red Cross and the Victorian Government:

There is a pop-up menu allowing you to select the Appeal — choose “Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009”.

For more information, read the message from the Premier of Victoria here.

Please forward the Donations URL to your friends. Our thoughts go out to the people of Victoria.
