Transports of Delight

Today’s programme features music about “Trains and Boats and Planes” — songs and pieces concerning or including, I suppose, mechanical transportation — from Coronation Scot to Pink Floyd’s Point Me At The Sky (and Flanders & Swann’s Transport of Delight of course).

There are some slightly unusual modes of transportation in there too: Klaus Badelt’s marvellous music for the remake of The Time Machine is in there for example.

As you can imagine, then, there is quite a range of genres and eras covered in today’s programme, and some of the transitions may well be bizarre: let’s just hope that they work out!

Don’t miss the latest series of The ZBS Radio Hour, which goes out tonight at 11am and 7pm Pacific (19:00 and 03:00 GMT) when we continue our two new adventures: At the top of the hour, it’s Jack Flanders in The Ah-Ha! Phenomenon; while at the half-hour it’s the deliciously satirical Steampunk drama: Lady Windermere’s Brass Fantabulous.

The illustration is from a Living Era album which I don’t actually have in my library, although I have most, if not all, of the content.

Today’s programme is presented by Elrik Merlin. You can listen to the programme now at http://loudcity.com/stations/radio-riel/tune_in; outside the US, tune to http://main.radioriel.org in-world, or simply click here if your browser is configured to launch a player automatically.
