Transports of Delight

Today’s programme features music about “Trains and Boats and Planes” — songs and pieces concerning or including mechanical transportation — from Coronation Scot to Pink Floyd’s Point Me At The Sky (and Flanders & Swann’s Transport of Delight of course).

We’ll also be featuring an excellent Scottish folk album called The Railway by Hamish Napier.

There are some slightly unusual modes of transportation in there too: Klaus Badelt’s marvellous music for the remake of The Time Machine is included for example.

As you can imagine, then, there is quite a range of genres and eras covered in today’s programme, and some of the transitions may well be bizarre: let’s just hope that they work out!

The illustration is from a Living Era album which I don’t actually have in my library, although I have most, if not all, of the content.
