The Rite of Spring: Early 20th Century Classical Music

One hun­dred and one years ago on this date, an uproar at the Paris Opera House shook not only the streets of Paris, but ush­ered in a new era in clas­si­cal music.

In hon­or of the infa­mous pre­mière of The Rite of Spring on May 29, 1913, today’s pro­gram on Radio Riel’s Main stream fea­tures clas­si­cal music from the ear­ly 20th cen­tu­ry. It fea­tures music from Igor Stravin­sky, Claude Debussy, Mau­rice Rav­el, Erik Satie, Sergei Prokofiev, Nick­o­lai Rim­sky-Kor­sakov, Manuel de Fal­la, Ottori­no Respighi and more.
