The North Road

A week ago, Elrik Merlin drove up the Great North Road from Cambridgeshire to the Highlands of Scotland to start a new life north of the border (and who knows, it might be a border again soon!).

He celebrates his move to Scotland with a programme featuring primarily traditional Scottish music, the first from his new studio on the north-east coast.

The programme includes plenty of music for traditional Scottish dance bands with the standard lineup of accordions, fiddle, drums and often piano, alongside folk music and, of course, the pipes.

Today’s programme is presented by Elrik Merlin. If you are in the United States, please click here to launch the Stream Licensing player.

The painting is by Sidney Richard Percy and depicts Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe, once the seat of the Campbells.
