The Light Programme

It’s the last Saturday in the month — and that means it’s time for The Light Programme, a title that pays tribute both the to BBC Radio service that was renamed Radio 2 in 1967, but also to Brian Kay’s Light Programme, which was a familiar source of light music on BBC Radio 3 for several years.

Today we present a programme of the best of British Light Music — tuneful and melodic, primarily instrumental music and primarily from the middle of the 20th Century. However there are some surprises today — both from before and after this period.

Then tune in at 11am or 7pm Pacific Time (7pm or 3am UK time) for the latest instalments of our award-winning radio drama from the ZBS Foundation in the ZBS Radio Hour. Today we continue our Steampunk adventure Steam Dreamers of Inverness with Jack Flanders and, at the bottom of the hour, continue Roger Gregg’s brilliant work, The Last Harbinger.

Today’s programme is presented by Elrik Merlin. You can listen to the programme in-world now at http://main.radioriel.org, or simply click here to start your player, if your browser is configured to do so. Listeners in the United States are encouraged to tune in using this link: http://loudcity.com/stations/radio-riel/tune_in
