The Light Programme

Today on the Light Programme, we’re featuring some nostalgic tunes going back to the 1930s and forward to around the 1950s (with, as always, a few exceptions).

Sourced from original and modern recordings, you’ll hear from the likes of Bert Ambrose and his orchestra, Ted Heath, Eric Coates, Richard Addinsell and many more. Tune in as we take you back.

Today’s programme is presented by Elrik Merlin. If you are in the United States or Canada, please click here to launch the Stream Licensing player.

To listen from outside North America, click here to start your player if your browser is set up to pass streams to an external player — recommended.

Note that web players, including the StreamLicensing player, no longer work with Safari or Chrome (v55 onwards).

This programme is also available in enhanced-quality AAC. Tune in here:  — or use the built-in player below if your browser supports it. Note that when today’s programme has finished, this player will provide a test mp3 stream that we are using to investigate technical service developments.
