The Early Music Show

in Daily Programme, Radio Riel Main

by Elrik Merlin on Saturday, 9 August, 2014

Today we’re presenting a programme of Early Music, primarily from the Renaissance period, and featuring music from many parts of Western Europe. However, there are some lively renditions of a few Mediæval pieces too.

Some, but not all, of the performances attempt to recreate the authentic sound of the pieces at the time they were written, but others bring modern musical sensibilities (and sometimes instrumentation) to bear.

Dreams of RioToday on the ZBS Radio Hour at 11am and 7pm Pacific Time – 19:00 or 03:00 UK time – tune in for TWO exciting episodes of our Jack Flanders serial: Dreams of Rio – back to back!

Hypnotic voodoo beats, lush jungle noises, tropical rains, an enigmatic European Professor, an alluring female anthropologist… a few of the ingredients which M. Fulton has fashioned into this audio fantasy, Dreams of Rio, an engaging romp through the forests and samba clubs of Brazil. Dreams of Rio chronicles the tropical adventures of hero Jack Flanders as he treks through the mysterious wilds of Brazilian rainforests and impossible situations in his search for the Lost City. The crisp, stereo recordings come vibrantly alive with luscious ambient sound recorded by Fulton and Clark on location in Brazil.
