The Desmond Shang Interview

in Daily Programme

by Elrik Merlin on Friday, 21 December, 2007

Radio Riel was on hand at Dr Dobb’s Island on 18th December to record the Founder and Guvnah of the Independent State of Caledon, Mr Desmond Shang being interviewed by Mr Ziggy Figaro of GridTalk, a production of InformationWeek, part of the CMP publishing group. The fascinating interview covered a great deal of ground, from the foundations of Caledon and before, to plans for the future and various aspects of life in Caledon today.

With kind permission of the participants and copyright holders, we are pleased to make this programme available to our listeners.

To hear the Desmond Shang GridTalk interview, please click here. The programme runs for approximately 45 minutes and will stream without requiring prior download.

The interview was conducted via SL Voice and as a result the audio quality leaves something to be desired. In addition, the occasional hiatus and technical difficulty have been edited out and the entire recording tightened up, although with no loss of content.

We will also be broadcasting this interview on stream (timing to be announced).

Thank you to Mr Merlin and Radio Riel for posting the Guvnah's interview!

Are you old enough to remember Ronny Aldridge and his "two pianos"? One was a U67 and the other an STC-4021 with a crinkled diaphragm. Now, why did I think of that?

Well, a leetle bit before my time, Sir, but of course I am acquainted with the devices.

I can assure you that neither was employed in this case (and I used an SM58 for the announcements).

Personally, I prefer a coincident pair on piano. 🙂
