Europa Wulfenbach Map

It’s time for Radio Riel to celebrate gas-lamp fantasy! Today’s program features classical music from composers who would have lived within the borders of the fictional nation of Europa Wulfenbach, which is part of the Girl Genius universe. Girl Genius is the popular web-comic by Phil and Kaja Foglio.

Here is a description of Europa Wulfenbach as defined in the Girl Genius Wikia:

Much of Europa falls within the Empire ruled by Baron Klaus Wulfenbach. He maintains the lands bounded roughly by the Rhine/Rhone/Saone river-courses on the west; the Alps and Adriatic Sea to the south, dipping down to include Lombardy and other lands north of the Po, and the port of Marseilles; the North and Baltic Seas to the north (does not include the Danish peninsula but stops at Holfung-Borzoi), and does not quite reach the Sea of Azov but does reach the Black Sea along the Bogdanian/Moldavian coast to the east, controlling most of the Danube delta.

Today’s program contains music from the Baroque, Classical and Modern eras. You will hear pieces from the following composers: Strauss, Buxtehude, Pachelbel, Froberger, Schenck, Bach, Telemann, Schumann, Schubert, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin, Brahms, Bartok, Dvorak and more.
