Midsummer Romance

Arthur Rackham MND

Lord, what fools these mortals be!

As Midsummer Night (and a Super Moon) has just passed, Radio Riel pays tribute to it with a program of music on our Main stream from the Romantic era with a focus on the music of Felix Mendelssohn.

Mendelssohn’s Overture and Incidental Music for William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is probably the best known, and most loved, musical rendition of the Bard’s play.

Today’s program features music from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in both English and German, as well as some of his Chamber works and his Songs Without Words. Additionally you will hear music from other composers of the Romantic era today, such as Brahms, Chopin, Liszt, Borodin, Parry, Schumann and more.

Today’s program is presented by Gabrielle Riel. To listen, click here to start your player . If you are in the United States, please use the following link: http://loudcity.com/stations/radio-riel/tune_in .
