Main: Songs of Innocence and of Experience

In today’s pro­gramme we are fea­tur­ing set­tings of William Blake’s Songs of Inno­cence and of Expe­ri­ence, includ­ing excerpts from the mul­ti-Gram­my-Award-win­ning Nax­os record­ing of the com­plete set­ting of the poems by William Bol­com, who will be famil­iar to Radio Riel lis­ten­ers for his ren­der­ings of Vic­to­ri­an and Edwar­dian bal­lads with his wife Joan Mor­ris.

Bol­com’s set­tings are remark­able, not least for the vast vari­ety of music gen­res that they cov­er, all of which will be famil­iar to Radio Riel lis­ten­ers, being the eclec­tic lot we are. The pro­gramme also includes oth­er set­tings of the poems, includ­ing the clas­sic rock album by David Axel­rod, and per­for­mances by Jean Dan­ton.

In addi­tion, we will be includ­ing selec­tions of clas­si­cal music.
