Music of the 20s & 30s

in Daily Programme

by Elrik Merlin on Wednesday, 23 May, 2012

Today on Main, enjoy a programme of music from the 1920s and 30s, composed of original recordings and more recent re‐recordings. The criterion is simply that the piece was written during the period, so you’ll in fact hear performances virtually from then until now.

The programme includes jazz, dance music, big band, ragtime and popular songs — and much more.

The Black Mass

Then don’t miss our special presentation of the landmark radio drama series The Black Mass, created by Erik Bauersfeld, John Whiting and colleagues at KPFA in Berkeley in the 1960s and 1970s.

Tune in at 11am or 7pm Pacific time — that’s 19:00 or 03:00 UK time — for the latest in this season of extremely unsettling tales. Tonight, instead of one long piece we bring you a collection of six classic chillers from the pen of Lord Dunsany. Do be sure to tune in and join the Circle of Empathy…

Today’s programme is presented by Elrik Merlin. You can listen to the programme in‐world at the appointed time at, or simply click here to start your player, if your browser is configured to do so. Listeners in the United States are encouraged to tune in using this link:
