Main: Magna Carta

On the anniversary of the signing of the Great Charter (Magna Carter), today’s daily programme provides a selection of early music from the mediaeval era.

The Magna Carta was an early step in the formation of not only the UK’s current Constitutional Monarchy but for democracy in all its variations throughout the English speaking world. It set limits on the King’s powers and that his rule was not an arbitrary one. While nearly all of the clauses have been replaced or updated by more modern laws, Clause 29, the right of Due Process, is still in force today.

Today’s programme is presented by Edward Pearse. You can listen to the programme in-world now at http://main.radioriel.org, or simply click here to start your player, if your browser is configured to do so. Listeners in the United States are encouraged to tune in using this link: http://loudcity.com/stations/radio-riel/tune_in
