On the anniversary of the signing of the Great Charter (Magna Carter), today’s daily programme provides a selection of early music from the mediaeval era.

The Magna Carta was an early step in the formation of not only the UK’s current Constitutional Monarchy but for democracy in all its variations throughout the English speaking world. It set limits on the King’s powers and that his rule was not an arbitrary one. While nearly all of the clauses have been replaced or updated by more modern laws, Clause 29, the right of Due Process, is still in force today.
