Today we feature music with a sense of place.
Consisting largely of classical and light classical pieces, we visit locations as diverse as Ilkley Moor, the Mausoleum at Helicarnassus, and the Steppes of Central Asia — and a great many more besides.
Something particularly special to listen out for today is Virginia Astley’s atmospheric 1983 album, From Gardens Where We Feel Secure, a musical evocation of a childhood Spring day in Oxfordshire, England.
