Happy Hogmanay!

As Scotland (and the rest of Britain) reaches the New Year with the Americas just a few hours behind, Radio Riel offers you a selection of largely traditional Celtic music to cross into 2009 — and we’ll play Auld Lang Syne at midnight.

Despite all the happenings in the world at large and at home, we wish all our listeners a happy, peaceful and prosperous 2009, in-world and in all the other worlds we inhabit. ‘A Guid New Year to ane an’ a’!’

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my jo,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere,
And gie’s a hand o’ thine,
And we’ll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne!

Bliadhna Mhath Ur!
