in Daily Programme

by Gabrielle Riel on Thursday, 29 March, 2012

Famed British composer Sir William Walton was born on this day, March 29, 1902.

In honor of his 110th birthday, today’s program on Radio Riel’s Main stream focuses on his music, as well as the music of the two other English composers that “stood” on either side of him in the 20th Century

Sir Edward Elgar was most active and prominent in the early 20th Century. Sir Benjamin Britten achieved recognition and respect in the last half of it. Walton’s works are primarily mid 20th Century, as his career began in the 1920s and spanned 60 years.
