From the Library: The Light Programme

Join us today on Radio Riel for anoth­er jour­ney into the world of Light Music from the mid­dle of the 20th Cen­tu­ry.

Light Music is char­ac­terised by a pre­dom­i­nance of melody – gen­er­al­ly mem­o­rable melody. Today we will be fea­tur­ing Ted Heath and His Music, Syd­ney Torch and the Queen’s Hall Light Orches­tra, Gavin Suther­land and the Roy­al Bal­let Sin­fo­nia, and many more, includ­ing recre­ations of the feel­ing of radio pro­grammes like Grand Hotel with the Palm Court The­atre Orches­tra.
