From the Library: The Gentlemen from Vienna

in Daily Programme

by Gabrielle Riel on Thursday, 5 August, 2010

The point is not to take the world’s opinion as a guiding star but to go one’s way in life and working unerringly, neither depressed by failure nor seduced by applause.

~ Gustav Mahler

July 7, 2010 was the 150th anniversary of the birth of the composer Gustav Mahler.  Mahler was one of many 18th and 19th Century composers who were from, and primarily based in, Vienna, Austria.
