From the Library: Music of the 30s and 40s

Today’s programme offers a broad selection of music from the decades encompassing the Second World War. There is inevitably a focus on pieces from the war years themselves, but not exclusively; you’ll hear a wonderful collection of heart-warming ballads, songs from the shows, and the sound of Big Band at its peak, with intricate, detailed arrangements – the characteristic sound of the era – from both sides of the Atlantic. Enjoy!

The programme today is presented by Elrik Merlin and produced by Radio Riel in association with the Alexandrian Free Library Consortium of Second Life. You can listen to the program now at http://main.radioriel.org.
