Today marks the 166th anniversary of the birth of Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.  Rimsky-Korsakov was one of The Five, the leading group of 19th century Russian nationalist composers.  In honor of his birthday, our program today features his music, as well as music by composers that influenced him, and composers whom he influenced.  You will hear pieces by Mikhail Glinka, Mily Balakirev, Hector Berlioz, Franz Liszt, Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Paul Dukas and Ottorino Respighi.
