 On this day, March 14, 1885,“The Mika­do” opened at the Savoy The­ater in Lon­don. In hon­or of Gilbert and Sul­li­van’s longest run­ning operetta, today’s pro­gram on Radio Riel fea­tures sev­er­al Gilbert and Sul­li­van pro­duc­tions, includ­ing The Mika­do, in their entire­ty.
