From the Library…Canadian Folk

Today Radio Riel features the folk music of the Canadians in preparation for tonight’s live Book Launch event for “The Golden Leg: And Other Ghostly Campfire Tales” by Dale Jarvis (Gilbert Sapwood in SL). The music featured today is as diverse as the people of Canada, you will hear folk music from Native Canadians, French Canadians, Irish Canadians and Scottish Canadians, as well as music from more famous, contemporary artists such as Joni Mitchell and Gordon Lightfoot.

Radio Riel produces this program in conjunction with the Caledon Library in Second Life. Today’s music originates from the music library of Gabrielle Riel.

what a magnificent programme today! I knew quite a few of the tracks, but the real marvels were the hidden gems, like the solo unaccompanied song about all the men leaving the woman in Saskatchewan, the Newfoundland anti-confederacy song, and the guy imitating animals. Maybe we should include some Vinyl Café material in a future programme. This was really a classic day. Thanks!
