From the Library: Big Band & Swing

Rather belat­ed­ly, for which we apol­o­gise, some details on today’s pro­gramme:

Today in From the Library we’re fea­tur­ing a range of swing and big band tracks. There’s a pre­pon­der­ance of instru­men­tal pieces and a ten­den­cy towards the 30s and 40s, but apart from that there are tunes from both sides of the Atlantic, rang­ing in time from the ear­ly 30s to as late as the 70s, as the set includes some of the wealth of mod­ern big band instru­men­tal mate­r­i­al that accom­pa­nied tele­vi­sion test trans­mis­sions in the UK in years gone by.

If you like tight, snap­py, sophis­ti­cat­ed arrange­ments and the high­est qual­i­ty of musi­cian­ship in jazz-influ­enced instru­men­tal music, you’ll find it on Radio Riel today.
