From the Library: Big Band, Swing and Beyond

Difficult thought it may be to follow Gabrielle Riel’s stunning Inauguration Day programme, we’re going to have a go – and we’ll continue with an American accent (most of the time, anyway).

Today we’re playing an extensive range of jazz and jazz-influenced music with a focus on Big Band and Swing. In among the famous artists you’ll hear a great deal of additional tracks, from hits of the 20s – 40s to modern interpretations of the Big Band genre, and a number of pieces (generally loosely, at least, falling into the Big Band genre) you probably haven’t heard unless you happen to have watched the Test Card on British television while you were growing up.

We do hope that you enjoy today’s selections of big band jazz and beyond.

From the Library is produced by Radio Riel in conjunction with the Caledon Library in Second Life. Today’s programme was produced by Elrik Merlin.
