From the Library: A Tribute to Les Paul

Three days ago, on August 13, 2009 one of the most important men in 20th century music passed away. Les Paul was 94, a guitar legend and a brilliant innovator responsible for major advances in music recording and production. Tributes are pouring in from the greatest living guitarists today. The innovations Les made in the creation and development of the electric guitar made the entire genre of Rock and Roll music possible.

Today’s program on Radio Riel features the music of Les Paul, as well as other guitarists, playing both electric and acoustic guitars. We are also proud to feature actual recordings of The Les Paul Show, which was a radio program in the 1940s.

Radio Riel produces this program in conjunction with the Alexandrian Free Library Consortium of Second Life. You can listen to the program now at . Today’s music originates from the music library of Gabrielle Riel.
