Classical for Clementi

On this day in the year 1752, the classical era composer Muzio Clementi was born. In honor of this, our program today is all music from the classical era of the common practice period, including work by Clementi himself.

Clementi was a contemporary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the two composers actually competed against each other in a competition for the Viennese court. Clementi spent the majority of his life in England and he was one of the first composers who wrote pieces specifically for the piano. In addition to being a performing musician and composer, he was also a piano manufacturer.

Today’s program is presented by Gabrielle Riel. To listen, click here to start your player . If you are in the United States, please use the following link: .
