Celtic Music In Memory of Marianna Lines

Today’s programme of Celtic music is in celebration of the life and work of Marianna Lines, who passed away earlier this week.

Marianna Lines worked with Pictish stones and ancient sites in Scotland from the time she emigrated in 1977 from her native Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She made an intensive, vigorous archaeo-artistic investigation into the field of Pictish Art, an art form indigenous to Scotland. With extensive field work, both traditional and experimental, Marianna developed an artistic and ecological process to capture the images in natural colour, often revealing details which have disappeared from view through erosion. Founder of the Pictish Arts Society in Scotland, she was also a printmaker, playwright, writer and designer.

Marianna was a great lover of Celtic music, always interested in hearing new artists and attending concerts all over Scotland. Here is some music we hope she would enjoy — and that you will, too.

The image shows a pair of Pictish creatures from the header of Marianna’s Stoneline Designs web site.
