Bach and the Masters of the Baroque

in Daily Programme, Radio Riel Main

by Elrik Merlin on Wednesday, 12 December, 2012

Today’s programme on our Main Stream features music from the Baroque era and while it features the music of J S Bach, it also includes many other composers of the period, both well‐known and seldom‐heard.

So in amongst the famous works today, we hope you’ll hear some music you’ve never encountered before.

Listeners may find it strange to learn that during his lifetime Bach was thought somewhat old‐fashioned and behind the times, as other composers adopted more decorated rococo styles. Today, of course, it’s a different matter and there is a vast library of recordings of his work available, a selection of which we will hear during the programme.

Then at 11am and 7pm Pacific Time (19:00 and 03:00 GMT) tune in for The Black Mass. This week: The Feeder by Carl Linder.

Today’s programme is presented by Elrik Merlin and produced by Radio Riel. You can listen to the programme in‐world now at, or simply click here to start your player, if your browser is configured to do so. Listeners in the United States are encouraged to tune in using this link:
