A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Radio Riel

This week, as part of SL Shake­speare Sum­mer, Radio Riel is run­ning a week of music pro­gram­ming inspired by Shake­speare and his com­e­dy, A Mid­sum­mer Night’s Dream, cul­mi­nat­ing in a for­mal Ball on Sat­ur­day, June 21st. All pro­grammes appear on our Main stream, http://music.radioriel.org.

Sun­day: Music of the Fae – Gabrielle Riel plays music from the Seel­ie and Unseel­ie Courts.
Mon­day: From Groundlings to Gods – Music of Shake­speare’s time, and a flavour of Eliz­a­bethan the­atre, from the library of Elrik Mer­lin.
Tues­day: Mendelssohn and his Men­tors – Mendelssohn was not great­ly impressed by the music of his time, pre­fer­ring the Baroque and ear­ly clas­si­cal. Pre­sent­ed by Soliel Snook.
Wednes­day*: Songs of Sum­mer – Music for a mid­sum­mer’s day pre­sent­ed by Gabrielle Riel. Plus lis­ten­ing par­ties for the Play at 1pm and 7pm SLT.
Thurs­day*: The Play’s The Thing – Elrik Mer­lin presents a selec­tion of music com­posed to accom­pa­ny, and inspired by, Shake­speare’s works.
Fri­day*: A Sol­stice Cel­e­bra­tion – Soliel Snook digs deep to the roots of the mid­sum­mer fes­ti­val with a var­ied pro­gramme of music.
Sat­ur­day: “Out of this wood do not desire to go” – Gabrielle Riel brings the week’s music togeth­er in a lead-up to the Mid­sum­mer Night’s Dream Ball.
