10 Riel Years

Ten years ago on June 1, 2007, four friends that shared a love of music and the real and imag­ined 19th Cen­tu­ry launched an Inter­net radio sta­tion named Radio Riel. Today we begin a month-long series of pro­grams to cel­e­brate our decade of broad­cast­ing.

Today’s anniver­sary cel­e­bra­tion pro­gram on Radio Riel’s Main stream is brought to you by Gabrielle Riel and fea­tures the music of the eight audio streams that Radio Riel has pro­vid­ed in our 10 years:

  • Main Stream — Late 19th Cen­tu­ry Pop­u­lar and Clas­si­cal, Eng­lish Folk and Ear­ly Music
  • New Toulouse (On air from Feb­ru­ary 2009 to Jan­u­ary 2013) — Ear­ly Jazz, Blues, Zyde­co and New Orleans
  • Steam­punk — Steam­punk, Steamwave, World Beat and Eclec­tic
  • Dieselpunk — Big Band, Jazz and Pop Stan­dards from 1920–1940, Elec­tro-Swing
  • Rever­ie — Ear­ly Music, New Age, Celtic and Clas­si­cal Fusion
  • Volksmusik — Euro­pean Folk Music
  • Rag­time — Rag­time, Ear­ly Jazz, Ear­ly Blues and Pop­u­lar Music
  • Fan­ta­sy Faire Radio — Joint project with Fan­ta­sy Faire — Renais­sance, New Age, Clas­si­cal and Fan­ta­sy Sound­tracks

This evening, Gabrielle Riel will play a spe­cial live broad­cast on Radio Riel’s main stream from 6:00pm — 8:00pm North Amer­i­can Pacif­ic Time with music and sto­ries from all of the eight Radio Riel streams that have broad­cast over the last decade.

At 8:00pm North Amer­i­can Pacif­ic Time, tune in for “Becom­ing Riel”, an audio pre­sen­ta­tion by Gabrielle Riel of the sto­ry of how Radio Riel came to be.
