10 Riel Years

in Daily Programme, Radio Riel Main

by Gabrielle Riel on Thursday, 1 June, 2017

Ten years ago on June 1, 2007, four friends that shared a love of music and the real and imagined 19th Century launched an Internet radio station named Radio Riel. Today we begin a month-long series of programs to celebrate our decade of broadcasting.

Today’s anniversary celebration program on Radio Riel’s Main stream is brought to you by Gabrielle Riel and features the music of the eight audio streams that Radio Riel has provided in our 10 years:

  • Main Stream — Late 19th Century Popular and Classical, English Folk and Early Music
  • New Toulouse (On air from February 2009 to January 2013) — Early Jazz, Blues, Zydeco and New Orleans
  • Steampunk — Steampunk, Steamwave, World Beat and Eclectic
  • Dieselpunk — Big Band, Jazz and Pop Standards from 1920–1940, Electro-Swing
  • Reverie — Early Music, New Age, Celtic and Classical Fusion
  • Volksmusik — European Folk Music
  • Ragtime — Ragtime, Early Jazz, Early Blues and Popular Music
  • Fantasy Faire Radio — Joint project with Fantasy Faire — Renaissance, New Age, Classical and Fantasy Soundtracks

This evening, Gabrielle Riel will play a special live broadcast on Radio Riel’s main stream from 6:00pm — 8:00pm North American Pacific Time with music and stories from all of the eight Radio Riel streams that have broadcast over the last decade.

At 8:00pm North American Pacific Time, tune in for “Becoming Riel”, an audio presentation by Gabrielle Riel of the story of how Radio Riel came to be.

Thank you for supporting Radio Riel for a decade. We could not have done it without you!
