Saturday At The Movies

Today we present a pro­gramme of movie and tele­vi­sion music. Along with a few recent releas­es, you’ll hear a bunch of favourites, clas­sics and oth­er film and TV music going back to the dawn of the genre. There’s per­haps a slight bias towards SF and F. Pick up some pop­corn and some­thing wet and fizzy and set­tle back in the best seat in the house – your own.

Today’s pro­gramme takes us back to the end of the 18th and the begin­ning of the 19th cen­turies, with music from the time of nov­el­ist Jane Austen (1775–1817) and the painter (Thomas) Gains­bor­ough (1728–1788) — in oth­er words, music that takes us from the late Baroque to the ear­ly Clas­si­cal peri­od.
