Daylight Savings Time Approaches

Spring Forward one hour this Sunday – but not if you're in Europe!

The advent of Summer Time, or Daylight Savings time as it’s known in North America, is approaching.

As a result, it’s time for us all to get confused for a while, as the hour Springs Forward at different times in Europe as compared to North America.

In North America, the hour goes forward on the second Sunday in March – this year, that’s March 10. In Europe, including the UK (yes, we really are part of Europe), the hour goes forward on the last Sunday in March – which this year is March 31.

On Radio Riel we reference all our times to US Pacific Time, as this is the time reference used by our original home, the virtual world of Second Life. As a result, the hour goes forward on Sunday for Radio Riel. From then until the end of the month, the difference in time between North America and Europe will be one hour less than usual. So for example, Britain will only be 7 hours ahead instead of the usual 8.

To avoid missing your favourite programmes on Radio Riel over the next couple of weeks, please bear this in mind. We’ll try to give you as much information as possible.
