With the latest software, you can at last listen to Radio Riel on your iPhone. First of all, you need to upgrade to Software Version 2.x, which you will be offered automatically when you sync.

Now you need a little App called Tuner, by NullRiver. Go to the Apps Store on your iPhone and chose the Music section. Alternatively, locate it in the iTunes Apps Store, where you’ll find Tuner on the second page of the Music section at the time of writing: click here to go there. It costs £2.99/$5US.

Buy the app and install it. Then open the application and touch the Search button (bottom of the screen, right hand side). At the top left of the Search page, touch Open… . Now enter the URL of Radio Riel’s Main Stream: http://music.radioriel.org and click Done.

The application will now attempt to connect to Radio Riel. If it doesn’t manage it (and quits to the Home screen) just try again. Save the station as a bookmark. You may find that the station name and track metadata are not currently displayed — this appears to be a problem with the current version of Tuner.

Enjoy Radio Riel on the go!

Radio Riel sounds great on my palm Centro, without any extra downloads 🙂

And I've been listening to RR successfully on my Nokia 770 and then 800 for months, also with no additional downloads.

The thing that annoyed me most about the iPhone was not being able to tune in Internet radio stations - but now you can.

As the unit is so popular I thought it worth a mention – but you're perfectly correct. It should have been able to do this from the beginning - and with no additional downloads.

Thanks for the comment!

Null River has issued an update to Tuner that fixes some initial problems with our stream: it now displays the station name correctly and the current track metadata; in addition the audio is clearer and doesn't suffer momentary dropouts as was the case initially.

If you purchased Tuner you will be offered the update automatically.
