If it’s pouring with rain or blowing up a storm where you are, what better thing to do than enjoy a movie – or in this case, a movie or television soundtrack or two? Well, that’s just what we have for you today.
And we are featuring a great and (fairly) new album by Brian Bennett of the Shadows — Shadowing John Barry – which includes leading guitarists performing John Barry’s music with band and orchestra. Brian Bennett says:
“The album features some wonderful performances by Peter Frampton, John Parricelli, Ray Russell, Mark Knopfler, Warren Bennett, Mark Griffiths, Brian Locking, Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch. Some wonderful string arrangements by Kevin Townend and Warren Bennett… It was John Barry who got me interested in composing for film when I toured with him in the late 50’s. I’d like to think he would have approved of our interpretations of his fabulous music.”
Tracks from featured albums usually appear a few minutes after the top of the hour.
Along with a few other recent releases, you’ll hear a bunch of favourites, classics and other film and TV music going back to the dawn of the genre. There’s perhaps a slight bias towards SF and F, but it’s only slight. Pick up some popcorn and something wet and fizzy and settle back in the best seat in the house – your own.
