Pastorale

Today, as it looks as if Spring is finally heading our way in the Northern Hemisphere,  on Radio Riel’s Main Stream, we present a programme of music evoking the countryside and rural life.

Mainly, but not exclusively, classical and light classical in nature, we’ll hear music like Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony and the beautiful but lesser known Symphony No 3 from Vaughan Williams. There’s The Lark Ascending and many other beautiful relaxing classics, and some tuneful light classics like Ketelbey’s In A Lover’s Garden Suite and Paul Reade’s Victorian Kitchen Garden Suite. You’ll also hear a number of orchestral arrangements of (mainly English) folk tunes by Vaughan Williams, Holst, Tomlinson and others.

In addition, you’ll hear some relaxing ‘smooth jazz’ and New Age pieces, again with a rural air.

The ZBS Radio Hour

Then join us at 11am or 7pm Pacific Daylight Time — which corresponds to 18:00 or 02:00 GMT for the latest installments of our exciting radio serials from ZBS Foundation. At the top of the hour, we continue The Incredible Adventures of Jack Flanders while at the bottom of the hour, it’s Ruby 3 — The Underworld.
