Today we present a programme of modern folk music from the UK.

We’ll be hearing fairly recent releases, plus tracks from the last 20 years or so, with the occasional traditional number thrown in alongside the likes of the Unthanks, Chumbawamba, Fourtold and others.

In particular, listen out for tracks from the 2015 album by the Unthanks, Mount The Air, including their evocative setting of the traditional (and here somewhat extended) Magpie, featured recently in the BBC’s Detectorist series:
