Classic Electronica

BachMoogToday, we present a programme of classic electronic music from a wide range of artists ranging forward from the beginnings of the genre. This time we are also featuring a new release: Craig Leon’s acclaimed Bach to Moog – a realisation for electronics and orchestra.

In addition, you’ll hear Wendy Carlos, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Dissevelt & Baltan, an IBM 7090 computer, Larry Fast’s Synergy, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and many, many more. You’ll even hear the hilarious sounds of Perrey and Kingsley, two of the earliest artists to use synths and recorded sounds for melodic, rather than abstract, ends.

Tune in for an astonishing variety of electronic and musique concrète sounds from both the popular melodic and abstract avant-garde ends of the electronica spectrum, from the 1950s to the 1980s (by and large).

Above: A Moog modular synthesiser, one of the most famous of the analogue synths, introduced in the late 1960s.
