Today’s programme includes a wide variety of music with a British theme, from the music hall to the concert hall, including well-known classical themes like Handel’s Zadok the Priest, Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance marches, and the Fantasia on British Sea Songs, to Gilbert & Sullivan and Victorian and Edwardian ballads that were favourites among British audiences in the early part of the 20th century.

You’ll also hear from Eric Coates and a wealth of other popular composers from the past couple of hundred years and there’s a certain “last night of the Proms” feel to some of the music.

This programme is produced by Radio Riel in conjunction with the Alexandrian Free Library Consortium of Second Life. You can listen to the programme now at http://main.radioriel.org . Today’s music originates from the music library of Edward Pearse.
