Today’s programme features some of the greatest names from the English folk music scene over the past half a century.

You’ll hear artists from the original heyday of folk music, such as Sandy Denny — with both Fotheringay and Fairport Convention; Pentangle; Gryphon; Anne Briggs; June Tabor; Maddy Prior and many more.

In addition there are some more recent contributions including updated traditional songs from The Imagined Village, and a comprehensive historical anthology containing many landmark names from the annals of British folk music.

Illustrated: albums from two of today’s featured artists: Fairport Convention’s Liege & Lief and The Imagined Village’s Empire & Love.

Today’s programme is presented by Elrik Merlin and produced by Radio Riel in conjunction with the Alexandrian Free Library Consortium of Second Life. You can listen to the programme now at http://main.radioriel.org in-world, or simply click here.
