From the Library: Deep Strings

in Uncategorized

by Otenth Paderborn on Wednesday, 17 September, 2008

Today’s program features the deep-voiced stringed instruments, the cello and viola da gamba. The viola da gamba has roots in the 15th-century vihuela, while the cello developed during the 16th from the bass violin. Included are both classical and folk styles, and soloists, chamber groups, and orchestral settings.

Radio Riel produces “From the Library” in conjunction with the Caledon Library in Second Life. Today’s music originates from the music library of Otenth Paderborn. Many of the tracks in today’s program are available from our good friends at Magnatune.com.

For more information on the Caledon Library, current exhibits and the work of Second Life reference libraries in general, please visit the Caledon Library Web site, or one of their locations in-world.

You can listen to the program at http://music.radioriel.org, or simply visit any Caledon Library branch in-world and press Play on your embedded music player.
