From the librettos of Sir Arthur Sullivan to the dance of Johan Strauss music from the 19th century is more than just repeats of Beethoven and Mozart.

Join Edward Pearse in listening to some of the popular songs of the era. From ballads and songs that today we would probably call “pop music” to the popular music from balls and fêtes. Recorded music was not an option at the time, so the live performances of the musicians carried a little extra with them.

From the Library is produced by Radio Riel in conjunction with the Caledon Library in Second Life. Today’s program was produced by Edward Pearse.
